About the book

Working from the Body

A workshop that explores devising theatre and performance from body memory, sensory stimulus, gut feelings, impulse and association. Suitable for HE students or professional artists at any level, this workshop can be tailored to specific themes and interests such as the connections between the sense of smell and memory or familial or cultural traits, tells and mannerisms. This is a studio-based workshop and participants should wear clothes they can move in. We can create a bespoke menu of prompts to fit your timeframe and/or project, from a half day to one week.

Site Specific Performance

A workshop that explores devising theatre and A workshop that explores creating performance in response to specific sites – indoor or outdoor. We can create a bespoke menu of prompts to fit your group and site. Suitable for HE students or professional artists at any level. Ideally site-specific workshops take place over a weekend or a week with a performance at the end.

Performing Activism workshops/retreats

A workshop that explores the rich and dynamic relationship between activism and performance, including: manifestos, performative protests, living newspaper, verbatim theatre, and creating a spectacle. Suitable for HE students or professional artists at any level. We can create a bespoke activist menu to fit your group and/or cause, from half day to one week.

Practice Based Research workshop/retreats

This workshop is designed to support artistic researchers in HE contexts (MA, PhD, lectures and professors) exploring notions of generative research, artistic methodologies, mapping practice, autoethnography and phenomenology, and bespoke tools for evaluation and critique. We can create a bespoke workshop for specific levels or offer general workshops for mixed groups. Ideally PBR workshops take place over two days to a week.
